It seems like every year when summer is upon us, I get excited about all the time I will get to enjoy outside! That is, until, it IS summer time and I AM outside and I am getting eaten up by mosquitos. Use this super easy and natural bug spray to keep those pesky buggers away!

Benefits of Natural Homemade Bug Spray
- No harsh or toxic chemicals
- you know EXACTLY what is in it
- You can choose what oils you prefer to use (for example, Rosemary is a wonderful oil to use in this recipe but its best to avoid if pregnant)
- Way cheaper than store bought mixes
We need to use some kind of bug repellent anytime we go outside in the summer months so having readily made spray on hand is a lifesaver and its so easy and fast to whip up! For this mix, I decided to use Thyme and Lemongrass oil.
Supplies Needed for Natural Bug Spray Repellent
- Essential oils of your choice ( I used Thyme and Lemongrass)
- Witch Hazel
- Distilled water
- 16 oz empty spray bottle, – I used a glass amber bottle

Grab your bottle and add a total of 30 drops of essential oil. I did 15 drops of each.
Next, add 4 Tablespoons of witch hazel.
Top off with distilled water.
To use, shake and spray on arms and legs!
Additional Oils You can use for Bug Repellent
- Rosemary (avoid if pregnant)
- Lavender (avoid Lavandin form, normally found in stores as Lavender, if pregnant)
- Peppermint
- Lemon Eucalyptus
- Citronella
