Our family loves summer time. We love the longer days, running around barefoot, working in the garden, cooking outside, I could go on and on. With being outside more and working on more projects, we run into a few ailments that come along with it all. These are some great homeopathic remedies to have on hand for some common summer ailments!

What is a homeopathy?
Although we have only been using homeopathic remedies for about a year, we use them for almost everything now. We are by no means experts, but once you get an idea for how it all works, its pretty simple! Homeopathy works by simply using extremely diluted ingredients – so diluted that the ingredient is essentially not necessarily in it anymore, instead its just the frequency made by the initial ingredient. I know I know, it sounds WAY out there but bear with me.
The reason we love homeopathy so much is because of just that. If it works then yay! if it doesn’t, nothing really happens. So what is there to lose in trying? We have seen it work more times than none and always reach for a homeopathic remedy before anything else. Homeopathy is a more natural alternative to help with aches, pains, coughs, colds, almost anything you can think of really!

How do you take homeopathic remedies?
Homeopathic remedies come in a few different forms. Most common is the sugar pill form. These are tiny white pellets that come in, typically, a tube that has a rotating cap that allows one pellet to dispense with every turn of the cap. We typically take 3-5 pellets (depending on dose needed) and twist the cap until the correct number dispenses. We then remove the cap from the tube and use the cap as a tiny cup to dump the pellets in our mouth and under our tongue. We try to avoid touching the pellets as to not interfere with the ingredient frequencies.
1. Arnica Montana
Arnica is a common go to for us year around, actually. It is great for bumps and bruises, sore muscles, and inflammation. They have it in both pill and topical form (we have both) – I use the pill form for when it’s something on a more sensitive area like the face close to the eyes, or on the head. When Eevee was born she had a bruise on her head and we gave her a pill and rubbed some cream on it and it was gone within 24 hours. We swear by our arnica! This is what we use here.
2. Apis Mellifica
Being located near a lot of water AND large grassy fields results in a ton of insects, and very unfavorable ones at that. When we do our perimeter walks in the summer evenings, we come inside with a ton of bug bites all over. Apart from using the bug bite thing, we also like to take apis mellifica. This helps with the swelling and the itchiness that comes with the bites. It also helps us with our spider-bites since we have a decent amount of those too. This is what we use here.
3. Nux Vomica
Nux Vomica is another one that I like to keep on hand at all times. This is perfect for those upset bellies – I thought of this one for a good “summer remedy” due to the typical BBQ foods, ice cream, “fancy drinks” and so on. This one is also known to help with hangovers! This is what we use here.
4. Histaminum
If you are someone with allergies, this is a homeopathic remedy that should absolutely be in your arsenal! Just like you’d guess from the name, Histaminum is perfect for allergies and helping keep them at bay. This one may also help with bug bites as well. This is what we use here.
5. Calendula Gel
Besides Arnica being one of our favorite topical homeopathic remedy, we also always have BOTH Calendula gel and cream on the ready. We like to use the gel for scratches, sun burn, and bug bites. The cream more for general skin irritations. Honestly though, either one will do the trick. I especially like to pair this one with apis when i have bug bites. This is what we use here.
I hope these few suggestions can help with tackling some of this summers well-known bumps, bruise, bug bites, and more. What are some other remedies you find yourself reaching for more during the summer months?
